Digital Love 6.0.1 - Ashlotte Maedel (Redux)

"But, Ami, what if I do not feel anything?" whispered Ashlotte, her voice just barely audible over the sound of her internal, self-winding clockwork.

"Then you do not feel anything," replied Ami with a chuckle, turning from the green kingdom sprawling out beneath the castle owned by Ashlotte's creator.  "You do not have to, you know.  You are the one who was curious."

"Do you not want to?"

Ami grinned at her, "I did not say that..."

"O-oh," Ashlotte stammered, glass eyes shifting between Ami's glowing green irises as she leaned a little closer.

So the original batch of "Digital Love" was my first big batch of renders, done over the course of just over a week because I had some time and was really enamored of suddenly being able to do this big, weird thing with this model of an OC I patched together.  And because I was trying to keep to a one-set-a-day schedule, there wasn't a lot of time for troubleshooting.  Also, because I didn't have a lot of experience, I didn't know why there was some incredibly weird stuff going on with Ashlotte's hair.  I didn't realize that was the backface not being culled.  Or... or poking through, I suppose?

I still don't know, but sometimes when things are multi-layered or whatever, things poke through and you see the wireframe faces poking through.

So now, after months and months of learning, I finally decided I was going to try and make a version of it that didn't have those weird bits of bleed-through or whatever it is, along with playing with a bunch of new shaders and lighting tricks I've learned in the months since the original versions.

I would have just spruced up the old version, but I made them back when I still throught it was a clever idea to export a scene from XPS into a .OBJ file and then work from that, so I had to do this from the top.  But that's okay because it was nice to get this done and have better results.

Along the way, I realized I really like Ashlotte and while I don't do many fanart renders, I want to learn a thing or two about her so they can be a bit more in-character than "Kind of wants to kiss my OC who's totally into it, but is a little anxious about doing so because what would it mean".

She's got really neat proportions and I may have to steal some of her mechanical bits for a later iteration of my androids.
